Review : MSI RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio OC Edition 16 GB

So, what do we think of this MSI RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio OC 16 GB?

In the end, this model, which we weren’t really expecting, performs very well with a very interesting gain in rasterisation. For us, the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB/16GB was the best choice for 1080p definition, but this new RTX 5060 Ti raises the bar even higher, allowing it to play in the 1440p card league. Admittedly, you may have to make some graphical concessions on some of the more demanding games, but overall, it’s no problem at all. If you want to use Multi Frame Generation, don’t forget to maintain a sufficient average native FPS before activating it, otherwise your gaming experience may be altered.

With this RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio OC 16 GB model, MSI offers us a high-performance card with a good cooling system that’s ready to take on 1440p definition. You might even say that, in the end, it’s too powerful to be content with 1080p. It ‘should’ be available for €559, which is €110 more than the MSRP of €449 set by NVIDIA. We haven’t had time to look at overclocking, given the rather tight schedule: of our three cards today, two only arrived on Friday. We’re going to deal with this subject quickly, though, because if in the end the three RTX 5060 Ti cards tested today differ by between 1% and 3% in terms of performance, overclocking could change all that, especially with the 22% power limit offered by MSI. Apart from its looks and a cooling system that’s more convincing than that of our PALIT, it’s hard to justify this price difference, but as we all know, that’s the price you have to pay depending on the series, in this case the Gaming Trio.

So keep your eyes peeled in the days to come to find out the overclocking potential of this MSI RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio OC 16 GB and whether it can justify the price difference compared to the MSRP. And let’s not forget that this MSI, like the PALIT model, is ‘SFF-Ready’ compatible.

Should you sell your RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB?

Well, there’s a slight difference of opinion. If you have a 1080p screen, certainly not, your RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB still does the job perfectly! On the other hand, if your display is compatible with 1440p, or if you’re planning to buy one in the next few weeks, this RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB could prove interesting. It has 16 GB of GDDR7, can (logically) be found in MSRP at 449 euros and benefits from Multi Frame Generation, which can be an asset in 1440p to complement the card’s performance. Be warned, though, that models in the higher-end series come at a higher price, and the price/performance ratio will no longer be as convincing.

In terms of design, the cooling system has already proved its worth on other models and is highly efficient, despite the all-plastic casing. A final word about the ‘8 GB’ versions, which we haven’t tested, but which we feel are less interesting than the ’16 GB’ versions, especially when it comes to taking advantage of the 1440p definition. Thanks to MSI France for making this copy of the MSI RTX 5060 Ti Gaming Trio OC 16 GB available.
